    Demystifying the Autism Spectrum


    Course Description 
    Join us for a three-part webinar series led by Autistic Psychologist and advocate Matt Lowry, and GEM Founder, Maisie Soetantyo.  Their  presentation will deconstruct autism definitions as stated in DSM-5 and help audiences understand why we need to redefine autistic expressions.  Common autism-related myths and misinformation typically given to parents of newly diagnosed autistic children will be dispelled.  We will focus on neurodiversity affirming support and treatments modalities for autistic people of all ages, and will dive deep into the ableism in deficit-based therapy/programs and why the 'fix-it' mindset falls short in helping neurodivergent people attain a quality of life.
